It is important to note that when this set arrived, the bowl did come with a large crack/hairline fracture. The bowl was still intact, but it looked as if it might fall apart if it wasn't set down very gently. Because of this defect I did request a replacement which was quick, easy, and painless (so far at least). I sent backbthe original set and the replacement arrived very quickly. Despite this experience, the set is packaged extremely well so I don't think this issue would be common and possibly happened before being boxed up even. The rest of my review will only be about the replacement set but I have included a photo of the original bowl for full transparency. This set is gorgeous and comes with everything I could need as a casual matcha drinker at least (I'd rather have an iced matcha latte as you can see in the photo). "This is a beautiful ceramic matcha tea set that is represented very well in the listing photos and description. It is important to note that when this set arrived, the bowl did come with a large crack/hairline fracture. The bowl was still intact, but it looked as if it might fall apart if it wasn't set down very gently. Because of this defect I did request a replacement which was quick, easy, and painless (so far at least). I sent backbthe original set and the replacement arrived very quickly. Despite this experience, the set is packaged extremely well so I don't think this issue would be common and possibly happened before being boxed up even. The rest of my review will only be about the replacement set but I have included a photo of the original bowl for full transparency. This set is gorgeous and comes with everything I could need as a casual matcha drinker at least (I'd rather have an iced matcha latte as you can see in the photo). Every piece is uniquely glazed and is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing. The tea canister easily holds the 60 gram bag of tea I had. I do agree with another reviewer that the canister top is impractical as it is covered in fabric which will get dirty/stained easily, and the pattern is quite busy for my personal liking. The sieve and whisk work well though I purposefully watered down my matcha in the photo so it may be hard to tell. The bowl pours in an even stream and will be a kitchen item I'm sure I'll reach for constantly. When I first ordered this set it was $43.99 which does seem a bit high but by the time I requested the replacement it was only $35.99. This is a much more reasonable price and I think is a pretty good value for this stunning, good quality set. The pieces are packaged very well in a lovely box and it all appears quite luxurious. Purple bamboo is known for durability, flexibility and longevity of its life span, premium choice for sure! Some pieces feel more decorative than essential (like the extra spoon), but they do add to the overall experience. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend this set, especially if you’re getting into matcha or want a complete, aesthetically pleasing starter kit without buying everything separately. "This is a beautiful ceramic matcha tea set that is represented very well in the listing photos and description. It is important to note that when this set arrived, the bowl did come with a large crack/hairline fracture. The bowl was still intact, but it looked as if it might fall apart if it wasn't set down very gently. Because of this defect I did request a replacement which was quick, easy, and painless (so far at least). I sent backbthe original set and the replacement arrived very quickly. Despite this experience, the set is packaged extremely well so I don't think this issue would be common and possibly happened before being boxed up even. The rest of my review will only be about the replacement set but I have included a photo of the original bowl for full transparency. This set is gorgeous and comes with everything I could need as a casual matcha drinker at least (I'd rather have an iced matcha latte as you can see in the photo). Every piece is uniquely glazed and is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing. The tea canister easily holds the 60 gram bag of tea I had. I do agree with another reviewer that the canister top is impractical as it is covered in fabric which will get dirty/stained easily, and the pattern is quite busy for my personal liking. The sieve and whisk work well though I purposefully watered down my matcha in the photo so it may be hard to tell. The bowl pours in an even stream and will be a kitchen item I'm sure I'll reach for constantly. When I first ordered this set it was $43.99 which does seem a bit high but by the time I requested the replacement it was only $35.99. This is a much more reasonable price and I think is a pretty good value for this stunning, good quality set. The pieces are packaged very well in a lovely box and it all appears quite luxurious. It would make a great gift for the upcoming holidays or to treat yourself."

Aesthetically, this is a lovely set — all the pieces match and it looks very pretty when they are all laid out together for tea. The colour of the set on the product ad says grey, but the grey is very dark, and only the bowl and the chasen holder are actually grey; the rest of the set is black. The sieve, the bamboo scoop, the scoop rest, and most of the chasen are black. The tea spoon metal scoop has an oxidized copper kind of look to it. On a practical level, this matcha set has everything you need to make traditional matcha tea (and look good doing it). I really like this set more than others I own because the colour scheme is very nice, and the chasen is of higher quality than most similarly priced matcha sets. I was quite impressed at the quality, beauty and practicality of this matcha set; it is definitely a great value at $47.99 (price at time of ordering), I have seen more expensive matcha sets that are lesser quality, have fewer accessories, and don't look nearly as nice.
